You can visit Kotsanas Museum locations in Athens, Heraklion, Ancient Olympia and Katakolo. Our traveling exhibitions also tour cities around the world, currently in Thessaloniki and Busteni, Romania. Visit each location page for its address, opening hours and current visitor information.
The Athens museum is open every day, including Mondays, 10:00–18:00. Opening days at our other museums may vary by season, each museum page lists its current hours.
General admission is €7 at the Athens museum and €7 at the Heraklion museum in Crete. Entry to our museums in Ancient Olympia and Katakolo is free, with a voluntary donation. Private guided interactive tours are available at all locations. Current prices and booking options are listed on each museum’s page.
Hundreds of fully working reconstructions developed through more than 30 years of research, including the Antikythera Mechanism, Plato’s alarm clock, the automatic servant of Philon and the automatic theatres of Heron. Most exhibits operate, and many can be set in motion by visitors. The museum was nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award in 2019.
Yes. The museums offer a highly interactive experience, and children can operate many of the reconstructed mechanisms themselves. The exhibits make engineering, science and ancient history accessible to visitors of different ages.
Most visitors spend approximately one to two hours in the museum. A guided tour or participation in an educational activity may require additional time.
