The Archimedes’ Museum in Ancient Olympia is a unique thematic, specialized Museum of Science and Technology. It is dedicated to the greatest mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer, and inventor of antiquity, Archimedes (3rd century BC). A truly unique and outstanding genius in the intellectual world of all times, Archimedes has bequeathed to global civilization remarkable treatises in all fields of ancient sciences, and most importantly, his work became the foundation for the development of modern science. The inventions of Archimedes, as well as the achievements of other great scientists such as Hero, Philo, and Ctesibius, are faithfully reconstructed based on historical sources and archaeological evidence. The exhibits are accompanied by rich audiovisual material (in Greek and English), detailed diagrams, and complete bibliographic references. The Museum offers guided tours, educational programs, and activities upon scheduled appointments. Additionally, personalized analytical guides of the Museum’s exhibits are available to the public in six different languages.
