The exhibition “Ancient Greek Inventions” of the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology – Kostas Kotsanas highlights the remarkable scientific and technological achievements of the ancient Greeks and their enduring impact on modern civilisation.

At the Library of Alexandria, in the very place where the spirit of Greek ingenuity was born and flourished, the present meets the past. Here, where great scientists and engineers such as Ktesibios, Philon of Byzantium, and Heron of Alexandria lived, taught, and created—alongside eminent scholars like Eratosthenes, Aristarchus, and Hipparchus—a unique chapter of human history comes back to life.

Through functional reconstructions and carefully selected exhibits, the exhibition demonstrates how theoretical knowledge was transformed into practical applications: from automation and hydraulics to pneumatics and astronomy. The pioneering ideas of ancient Greek engineers led to the creation of the first automatic machines and profoundly influenced later civilizations.

The exhibition invites visitors to experience a unique encounter where the scientific thought and technological ingenuity of the past come alive in the present, in the very place where the foundations of modern science and technology were once laid.
