EDUCATION / Calculating mechanisms in Antiquity

from the “calculator” of Salamina, to the “computer of Antikythera”

Through the program, students learn to make calculations using the ancient Greek “calculator” and to predict events with the Antikythera Mechanism.
They will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop where they will construct, on their own, the most important component of the first computer in history — the Heart of the Mechanism!
The aim of the program is for students to become familiar with the computing devices of the Ancient Greeks and, through the hands-on construction process, to develop their skills while understanding the theory through practice.
