This is a game that combines chance and strategy alike, which was spread throughout the ancient world in many variants and continues to have fans to date (in the form of backgammon). It was played by two players, who moved 15 pawns each (of different color or kind) on a board diagram with 11 parallel lines on each side that formed 12 positions each. They rolled two or three 6-sided (exaedra) dice that determined the allowed pawn movements. The players had to combine their intellectual skills with chance, to win the game.
