The Plato’s cubist

It is an ingenious instrument invented by Plato and constructed most likely by a student of his famous school. With this instrument and the use of the kinematic geometry was possible the insertion of two similar means between two given segments and thus the solution of the Delian problem concerning the doubling of the cube. It consisted of a box in the form of “Π” and a sliding rod moving parallel to the base of the frame.
