The pedal turning lathe

It was a machine for the work finishing of metal or wooden pieces giving form on a surface by their rotation with matter removal. The upper end of the rope wrapping the piece was attached to a flexible yet stable horizontal rod and the lowest end was cam attached to a foot powered axle. The processed metal or wooden piece rotated counter-clockwise with the pressing of the foot pedal by the craftsman and then clockwise, by the restoring force of the bent rod. The cutting tool, based on the front horizontal bar, was applied over the rotating piece.
