It was an instrument that verified the horizontality or the inclination of surfaces. It had the form of the letter “A”
from which its Greek name (alphadi) derived. It is the precursor of the contemporary level and although its form
changed, it maintains the same name, showing in that way the power of the language’s memory. It was used for the construction of the ziggurats in Mesopotamia, the pyramids in Egypt and the temples of the Greeks.
