The Proklos' "ellipsografos" (tool for carving ellipses)

It is an exceptional instrument of carving ellipses. It was constituted by two stable vertical bars with slots inside which were sliding the pins of a moving bar. With continuous movement the pen (stylus) that was located in the edge of the moving bar carved the desirable ellipse.
