''Kilonion'' (Shantuf)

An ancient system used for pumping water. It was invented by the civilisations of Mesopotamia. It consisted of a long wooden lever, on the one end of which there was the pumping bucket and on the other a stone as a counterbalance. The manipulator used the weight of his body for the descent of the empty bucket and the counterbalance for the ascent of the full bucket of water.
